The South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy (SWSPDA) currently provides tuition in piping/drumming to pupils in a number of local schools. During session 2025-26, instruction is again being offered to interested youngsters.
Piping/drumming instruction, as with the learning of any musical instrument, will complement the learning experiences each child has at school and give them a great opportunity to be part of a popular and thriving local and national culture. It is expected that pupils will work towards a recognised national piping/drumming qualification as part of their tuition. All practice/learner materials, including instruments, will be provided free of charge initially – except sets of bagpipes and drums which can be hired.
Tuition will be delivered weekly during school term-time by highly experienced tutors and will be enhanced through occasional weekend/summer workshops.
Further information on this, and all other aspects of tuition, will be given to enrolled youngsters on commencement of tuition.
